Day 1: Welcome to Tangier to Chefchaouen [127 km]

Your 10 Days Morocco Tour from Tangier begins with a private welcome at your riad, the airport, or the port of Tangier. We’ll start close to the city at Cape Spartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea, then visit the Hercules Cave, one of the best-known natural sites on Morocco’s northern coast. After some free time for lunch, we leave the coast and climb into the Rif Mountains, stopping at a few viewpoints on the way to Chefchaouen.

You’ll arrive in the Blue City by late afternoon and check into your riad in time to see the light change over the blue alleyways. The rest of the evening is yours walk through the medina at your own pace, or just relax before your first night in Chefchaouen.

Day 2: Explore Chefchaouen, the Blue Pearl of Morocco

This full day in Chefchaouen is one of the highlights of the whole 10 days Morocco itinerary. After breakfast, you’ll walk through the blue-painted medina, stop into small shops run by local weavers and leather workers, and take in the blue walls that give this Rif Mountain town its name.

After lunch at a café in the old town, you can keep exploring or make the short walk up to the Spanish Mosque. From the hilltop, you get a full view over the city and the surrounding mountains, which is especially nice around sunset. You’ll return to your riad for a second night in Chefchaouen.

Day 3: Chefchaouen – Roman Ruins of Volubilis – Meknes – Fes [252 km]

After breakfast, we leave Chefchaouen and head toward the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with well-preserved mosaics and standing columns from Morocco’s Roman period. Your guide will walk you through the site and explain how it connects to what you’ve already seen on this 10 days tour from Tangier.

From there, we continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and the former capital under Sultan Moulay Ismail. You’ll see the Bab Al Mansour gate, the Royal Granary, the Sahrij Souani basin, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. In the afternoon, we drive on to Fes, where you’ll check into a traditional riad inside the old city walls.

Day 4: Guided Sightseeing Tour of Fes

Today is set aside for Fes, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital, with a local guide leading the way. You’ll start outside the Royal Palace gates before entering the UNESCO-listed medina through Bab Boujloud, known as the Blue Gate.

Inside, you’ll see the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, the Chouara Tanneries, and Al Quaraouiyine University, which is recognized as the oldest continuously operating university in the world. In the afternoon, we walk through the old Jewish Quarter (Mellah) and finish at a viewpoint overlooking the medina rooftops. You’ll spend a second night in Fes.

Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert [468 km]

This is the day your 10 days Morocco tour from Tangier turns toward the Sahara. The road climbs into the Middle Atlas Mountains and into Ifrane, a town known for its clean streets and European-style buildings, which is why it’s often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.”

From Ifrane, we pass through the Cedar Forest near Azrou, where wild Barbary macaques are often seen right along the road. After lunch in Midelt, we cross the Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass and follow the Ziz Valley, lined with palm groves for miles. By late afternoon we reach Merzouga and head out on a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, timed to catch the sunset from the top of a dune before arriving at your private desert camp for dinner, live Berber music, and a night under a clear desert sky full of stars.

Day 6: Explore the Merzouga Desert Region

Wake up early for a sunrise over the dunes, then head back to camp for breakfast. Today is more about the villages and people around Merzouga than the dunes themselves.

You’ll visit Khamlia, a village known for its Gnawa musicians, whose music has roots in West Africa. From there we continue through smaller desert villages before stopping for lunch, where Berber pizza a local dish baked in hot sand is worth trying. In the afternoon, you can add sandboarding, a 4×4 ride, or quad biking across the dunes if you’d like. You’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel at the edge of the Sahara.

Day 7: Merzouga Desert – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley [271 km]

After breakfast, we leave the Sahara and stop in Rissani, an old trading town known for its market if your visit lands on market day, it’s one of the more authentic souks in southern Morocco. A short stop in Erfoud follows, where a local workshop shows how fossils are cut and polished into stone products.

From there, the road passes through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad before reaching the Todra Gorges, where tall cliffs rise on either side of a narrow river canyon. After lunch, we continue to the Dades Valley, stopping to see the Monkey Fingers rock formations along the way. Dinner and the overnight stay are in the Dades Valley.

Day 8: Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech [331 km]

This day covers a lot of ground. After breakfast, we drive through the Rose Valley, known for its rose fields and local cosmetics, then through the Skoura palm oasis to see the Amridil Kasbah, one of the best-preserved kasbahs in the country.

From there, we reach Ouarzazate, sometimes called the “Hollywood of Morocco” because of the film studios based there, before arriving at Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah and one of the most recognizable fortified villages in Morocco. After the visit, we cross the High Atlas Mountains on the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with a few stops for photos along the way. We arrive in Marrakech by evening for an overnight stay in a traditional riad.

Day 9: Guided Tour of Marrakech

After breakfast, a local guide will take you through Marrakech the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the Ben Youssef Madrasa before walking you through the souks, where you’ll find handmade carpets, leather goods, spices, and jewelry.

After lunch near Jemaa el-Fna Square, you’ll see the Koutoubia Mosque, the city’s best-known landmark, and the Majorelle Garden, known for its blue walls and plant collection. In the evening, you can head back to your riad or return to Jemaa el-Fna to see the square come alive at night before your last evening in Marrakech.

Day 10: Transfer to Marrakech or Casablanca Airport
