Itinerary of 12 Days Tour from Tangier
Day 1: Arrival at Tangier Airport – Tour Around the City
Meet & greet upon arrival at Ibn Battuta International Airport, Tangier Med Port, or pick you up from your accommodation, to start your 12 days tour from Tangier.
On the first day, you will explore the capital of North. Here you are going to see the Hercules cave that attracts many visitors, visit the Kasbah of Tangier and the old Medina before going for a quick visit to Cap Spartel.
At the end of the day we will discover the northern Atlantic Coast and the Mediterranean Coast to catch the beautiful sunset. Later we head to the hotel to spend the night there.
Day 2: Tangier – Chefchaouen [112 km]
The next morning, you will have a delicious breakfast at the hotel before moving to a new destination. About 80 km away and its called Chefchaouen, a small city in the Rif high mountains, also famous as the Blue Berle.
Here you will have enough time to discover all corners and admire the blue streets, walls, and staircases around the city. You will have typical luch in a nearby restaurant.
As you stroll through the narrow cobbled streets, you will notice the traditional clothes between people, women wearing colorful straw hats, and Djellabas for men. You will also see wool garments and woven blankets as you hang out around.
At the end of the day, we will take you to a local hotel to get rest and prepare yourself for another day in this beautiful northern city.
Day 3: Chefchaouen Sightseeing
In the ancient city of Chefchaouen, which is situated inside a natural biosphere reserve, we have the day free. Visitors can enjoy beautiful urban vistas, valuable samples of local craft, and a calm and tranquility that are difficult to find in today’s world. Its folks are also nice and kind. Back to the hotel and over night.
Day 4: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes [260 km]
On the fourth day of your 12 days trip in Morocco, we will start with breakfast in our accommodation. Then we will be heading to the imperial cities of Meknes and Fes. We will cross the high Rif mountains and enjoy nature.
On the way we will stop at the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, there you will see the ruins and discover the history of one of the oldest places in the country. A few kilometers away, we will find Meknes. It is one of the four imperial cities that has so much to tell about the history and the culture of Morocco. You will see the biggest door in Africa called Bab Mansour located in the famous square of Lahdim.
Here you will have a short tour around the old medina. Then move toward Fes City, that will be reached in the late afternoon and spend the night in a Riad or hotel.
Day 5: Fes sightseeing with a local guide
After breakfast in your Riad/Hotel, you will have a whole day exploring the imperial city of Fes. It is one of the oldest cities that is rich in Moroccan culture and traditions.
With the aid of a local guide, we will begin by touring the old neighborhood of Fes (old Medina). The customary souks, the gates of the royal palace, and the Karaouine University will all be included in our visit. The Quaraouiyine is the world’s oldest university that is still in use today.
After lunch at a traditional Moroccan restaurant, we will continue our tour by going to the Batha Museum and the Nejjarine Fountain. Before eventually making it back to our Riad, we’ll stop at a café or a terrace to end the day and take in a panoramic view of the city.
Day 6: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Arfoud – Merzouga Desert [477 km]
Starting early from Fes, we arrive at Ifrane. It is a ski resort that was developed in France in the 1930s to resemble a Swiss hamlet. We will visit Azrou Cedar Forest, where you can watch the monkeys.
You will spend the majority of the day enjoying the magnificent views of forests, springs, angular rock walls, and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains.
After having lunch in the rock-rich hamlet of Midelt, you will arrive in Merzouga in the evening. Here you will find the camels waiting for you to go on a camel ride. It’s quite a long ride inside dunes to catch the sunset.
The sunsets in the desert are among most beautiful in the world. You will love the atmosphere and would like to relive it again. Overnight in the desert hotel/riad.
Day 7: Merzouga Sightseeing [60 km]
On the seventh day we will spend the whole day exploring the area of Merzouga. We are going to have a blast visiting Merzouga surroundings and discovering more about the desert’s culture. To go to the historic Khamlia town, we will first take a brief 4×4 excursion through the dunes.
The masters of Gnaoua music reside in the village of Khamlia, which explains why the place is so significant. Following this, we’ll make a brief stop at Merzouga Lake, home to various seasonal birds like pink flamingos. Then we are going to visit a nomad family in the desert and discover more about their way of life and culture.
After returning to Merzouga for lunch, we’ll return to the hotel to relax for a while. Here, through the twilight, we will get the opportunity to take in the breathtaking desert panorama while riding camels again. We will be transported by camel to the secret desert camp. Here we will enjoy a delicious traditional dinner and spend the remainder of the evening dancing to local musicians before retiring to the traditional nomad tents.
Day 8: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges [271 km]
We will leave the Sahara today and take a different, more enjoyable route that passes through Gorges and Berber settlements. We will arrive at Todra Gorge, a natural oasis created by the River Todra slicing through limestone over a long period, after traveling to Rissani and Tinghir.
The gorge, is one of the top tourist attractions in Morocco. With canyon walls that soar more than 400 meters above the ground, giving it an almost ancient aspect. After lunch in the gorge, we will continue to the Dades Gorges where we will see the stunning beauty and vast vistas of Dades Valley.
While still in the Dades Gorges, we ate dinner for that night and breakfast for the following day at a neighboring hotel.
Day 9: Dades Gorges – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech [330 km]
You will have breakfast at the hotel before traveling to Ouarzazate, via the countless Kasbahs. On the way, we’ll make a stop in Kalaat Mgouna, the center of the rose valley, so that we may visit the local cooperative for the rose industry.
We will visit Ait Ben Haddou, a kasbah built in the 19th century and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is currently home to many Glaoui people and was built by Et Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains.
Then we move toward Marrakech city, where you are going to spend the night in a Riad and get ready for the city tour the next day.
Day 10: Marrakech Sightseeing with a local guide
Prepare yourself for a long day after breakfast because we will be taking a guided tour to discover Marrakech beauties. This includes a number of the most significant historical sites in the Red City, including Jamaa El Fna, the Bahia Palace, the Majorelle Garden, and the Saadian tombs.
You will enjoy this day in a city rich in culture and history before heading back to the Riad for another night.
Day 11: Marrakech – Essaouira [191 km]
We will next take a private day trip to the stunning city of Essaouira. Afternoon departure from Marrakech will be followed by a drive through the lovely Argan tree fields to our final destination.
In the charming city of Essaouira, which is located on the Atlantic coast, many people enjoy surfing. We will spend our time here touring the city’s historic Medina and the buildings that blend Andalusian and Portuguese architecture.
We will have lunch in a restaurant with local food and Gnawa music playing around. Overnight at local riad/hotel.
Day 12: Essaouira – Marrakech [191 km]
On the last day of our 12 days tour from Tangier we will be back in Marrakech. We will travel along the Atlantic coast and between forests to reach Marrakech.
