Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert [465 km]

Your 5 days desert tour from Fes to Marrakech starts with an 8:30 AM pick-up from your riad in Fes. Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains and first stop in Ifrane, a charming town known for its alpine-style architecture, clean streets, and peaceful atmosphere. It is often called the Switzerland of Morocco.

Continue to the cedar forest near Azrou, where you may spot Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. Drive through Midelt before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves, traditional villages, and panoramic viewpoints. Continue through Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops and date production, before arriving in Merzouga. After checking in to your hotel, relax and prepare for your Sahara Desert adventure the following day.

Day 2: Explore Merzouga Region [80 km]

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the Merzouga Desert and its surrounding area. Visit the village of Khamlia to enjoy traditional Gnawa music and learn about the local culture. If you wish, optional activities such as quad biking or a buggy ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes can also be arranged.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy a camel trek across the golden sand dunes while watching the sunset over the Sahara. Upon arrival at your luxury desert camp, you’ll receive a warm Moroccan welcome. Enjoy a delicious dinner followed by Berber music around the campfire before spending the night in your comfortable private tent.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley [265 km]

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes before enjoying breakfast. Continue to Rissani, a historic town famous for its traditional market, especially on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Next, visit Erfoud, where you’ll discover local fossil workshops and learn about the region’s unique fossils.

Travel through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad before arriving at the spectacular Todra Gorges. Take a short walk through the canyon and admire its impressive cliffs carved by the Todra River. After lunch, continue to the beautiful Dades Valley and stop to see the famous Monkey Fingers rock formations before heading to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate [140 km]

After breakfast, continue through the scenic Rose Valley, well known for its annual Rose Festival and locally made products such as rose water, perfumes, and essential oils. Travel through the Skoura Oasis and visit the historic Kasbah Amridil, one of the best-preserved kasbahs in southern Morocco.

In the afternoon, arrive in Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the desert. Visit the Taourirt Kasbah and, if time allows, explore the nearby film studios where several famous movies and television series were filmed. Enjoy dinner and spend the night at your hotel in Ouarzazate.

Day 5: Ait Ben Haddou – Atlas Mountains – Marrakech [193 km]

After breakfast, visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco best-known historic villages. Continue crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass.
