Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca, Morocco

Welcome to Morocco. Your 7 Days Morocco Tour from Casablanca begins the moment you land. Your driver will meet you at the airport, or come directly to your hotel, and take you to the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world and the true landmark of the city. Set on a promontory overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, its detailed tilework and seaside setting make it an unmissable first stop on your Morocco itinerary.

After some free time for lunch, the afternoon is yours to keep exploring Casablanca. Depending on your arrival time, this can include a stop at Mohammed V Square, the city’s lively civic center known for its French colonial buildings, a photo stop at the famous Rick’s Café made popular by the classic film Casablanca, and a relaxed walk along the Atlantic Corniche. Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen [365 km]

After breakfast, you’ll drive along the coast to Rabat, Morocco’s political capital and one of its four imperial cities. Here you’ll visit the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Oudayas, a peaceful fortified quarter overlooking the river and the ocean. There’s free time for lunch before continuing the journey.

In the afternoon, the road heads north through Ouazzane toward Chefchaouen, one of the most photographed towns in the country. Set in the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is known worldwide for its buildings and narrow alleyways painted in every shade of blue. You’ll spend the night in a hotel in the heart of this striking blue city.

Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes [235 km]

Spend the morning wandering freely through Chefchaouen’s blue alleyways before setting off toward the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Remarkably well preserved and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Volubilis is home to beautiful mosaics, ancient columns, and archways that give a real sense of daily life under the Roman Empire.

From there, it’s a short 30-kilometer drive to Meknes, known as the Ismaili capital and one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. Highlights here include Bab Al-Mansour, one of the most elaborate gates in North Africa, the Sahrij Souani basin, the royal stables, the granary, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. In the late afternoon, you’ll continue to Fes, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional riad.

Day 4: Sightseeing in Fes with a Local Guide

Your guide will meet you at the riad after breakfast for a full day exploring Fes, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital and one of its most iconic imperial cities. The morning starts with a driving tour that includes the Royal Palace Gate, the Mellah, or historic Jewish quarter, and the Borj Sud fortress, which offers sweeping views over the old medina. You’ll also stop at a ceramic village and school to watch traditional craftsmanship in action.

The second half of the day is a walking tour through the medieval medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved historic towns in the Arab world. With your local guide, you’ll visit the Al Attarine Madrasa, the University and Mosque of Al Quaraouiyine, recognized as the oldest existing university in the world, and the colorful Chouara Tanneries, where leather has been dyed using the same centuries-old methods for generations. You’ll then return to your riad to relax for the evening.

Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert [457 km]

After breakfast, you’ll drive south through Imouzzer toward Ifrane, a town famous for its cool climate, occasional snow, and alpine-style architecture that earned it the nickname the Switzerland of Morocco. From there, the route continues into the cedar forests, home to wild Barbary macaques you can spot along the way.

The journey continues to Midelt for a free lunch break, then on to Merzouga through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the scenic Ziz Valley, with several stops for panoramic views. By late afternoon, you’ll reach the Sahara desert of Merzouga, where you’ll trade your vehicle for a camel and cross the sand toward a high dune to watch the sunset. From there, camels carry you to a desert camp that blends traditional nomad tents with genuine comfort, with dinner, Berber drum music, and a campfire. You’ll spend the night in the camp.

Day 6: Merzouga Desert – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley [257 km]

Waking up early to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes is one of the standout moments of this Morocco desert tour. After breakfast, you’ll ride back to Merzouga by camel or 4×4, where your driver will be waiting. From there, the tour heads to Rissani, once the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region and still an active trading hub with a large souk that runs three days a week.

After exploring the market, you’ll continue to Erfoud to visit a fossil workshop, then pass through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad on the way to the Todra Gorges. Carved by the Todra River, these towering red cliffs form one of Morocco’s most striking canyons and a popular spot for rock climbers, with plenty of time to walk through and take in the scenery. Following a lunch break, the route continues to the Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades, with stops at the well-known Monkey Fingers rock formation and a viewpoint overlooking the valley. You’ll spend the night in a riad in the Dades Valley.

Day 7: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech [345 km]

On your final day, the tour continues to Kelaat M’Gouna to visit the Rose Valley and a local cooperative, home to Morocco’s annual Rose Festival held every May, where you can find rose-based perfumes, water, oils, and cosmetics made by local producers. From there, the route passes through the palm groves of Skoura on the way to Ouarzazate, where you’ll visit the Atlas Film Studios, famous for hosting the production of major international films.

The last major stop is Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site that has appeared in films such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as the TV series Game of Thrones. From there, the tour crosses the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, with stops for lunch and photos along the way, before arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
