Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert [477 km]

The journey begins as we drive south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, renowned for its cool climate, snow, and Alpine-style architecture hence, its nickname, the Switzerland of Morocco. Afterward, we head to the Cedars Forest, home to the Barbary Macaques. Feel free to feed them while enjoying a peaceful walk among the ancient trees.

We then continue to Midelt, where a delicious lunch will be served. Following this, we drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the scenic Ziz River, making our way to the Sahara Desert of Merzouga. Upon arrival, you’ll switch to camels for an unforgettable ride across the golden dunes. A stop will be made at a high dune to witness the magical sunset. The area is rich with natural beauty, including sand dunes, a wild lake, ancient mines, fossil sites, and stunning oases ideal for outdoor activities.

The day begins with an off-road adventure to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. We then visit a nomad family in their handmade woven tent, where you’ll learn about their way of life while enjoying a traditional Berber tea. Next, we visit Khamlia village, where you’ll experience the hypnotic rhythms of Gnaoua music performed by descendants of slaves from Sub-Saharan Africa. After lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll take a stroll through a palm grove and then visit the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as Flamingos Lake. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Merzouga.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges [271 km]

After breakfast, we leave the desert and head towards Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. This town remains a major trading hub in the region, particularly during its lively souk days on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After exploring the Rissani souk, we proceed to Erfoud, where you can visit a workshop that specializes in fossilized marble.

We then drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad before reaching the Todra Gorges.
