4 Days Tour from Fes to Merzouga Desert

Day 1: Fes – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga [467 Km]

We begin our 4-day, 3-night Fes to desert trip by picking you up from your hotel or Riad. Heading south from Fes, our journey takes us through picturesque landscapes. Passing through Azrou and Ifrane, often called the Little Switzerland of Morocco, we pause in the Middle Atlas mountains to visit the cedar forest, home to fascinating Barbary Apes, perfect for memorable photos. After lunch, we continue our drive through the scenic Atlas Mountains, enjoying the vistas of Midelt. Progressing through the Ziz Valley, we reach Erfoud, Rissani, and finally Merzouga. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with traditional Moroccan hospitality, starting with a refreshing cup of tea and an overnight stay at a Hotel/Riad.

Day 2: Explore Merzouga area [60 km]

After breakfast, our journey continues with a visit to a village inhabited by Mali’s indigenous people, known for their vibrant music and unique way of life. Following this cultural experience, we head to Miffis Mines to observe their operations, then venture into the desert behind the dunes for breathtaking vistas. Here, we enjoy a warm cup of tea with local Bedouins before returning to our hotel for some relaxation.

Later, our local guides will provide instructions on mounting and dismounting camels, along with essential safety tips, preparing us for an exploration of the captivating Erg Chebbi sand-sea. The day concludes with an overnight stay in a traditional Berber tent under the starry desert sky.

Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Vally – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley [255 km]

We start our day early, capturing the breathtaking sunrise over Morocco tallest sand dunes, where the shifting colors and shadows create a mesmerizing spectacle. After a hearty breakfast at our desert accommodation, we venture towards Tinghir, a gateway to the magnificent Todra Gorge. Renowned for its towering rock walls and narrow passages, the gorge offers excellent hiking opportunities along the riverbanks and a chance to savor traditional Berber delicacies at a local eatery nestled within the gorge. Following a scenic lunch, our journey continues through the picturesque Dades Valley, where we settle for the night at a charming hotel perched atop the valley’s scenic heights, ensuring a tranquil end to our day filled with natural wonders.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Fes [472 Km]

After enjoying a delicious local breakfast, we begin our 4 days tour from Fes to Merzouga and back. From Todgha Gorge, we traverse through lush palm groves and follow the scenic Ziz Valley, pausing at a panoramic viewpoint for tea amidst breathtaking views. Journeying northward, the Middle Atlas Mountains envelop us as we pass by nomadic settlements and their traditional goat-hair tents in the fields. After a satisfying lunch, our route continues through the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you can interact with mischievous Barbary Monkeys in the cedar forests and take a coffee break in the charming alpine town of Ifrane. By late afternoon, we arrive back in Fes, concluding our memorable trip.
