How Many Days Do You Need in Morocco? 3, 5, 7, 10 or 14

Most travellers need 7 to 10 days in Morocco to see the imperial cities, the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara without rushing. With less time you can still have a great trip, as long as you choose a smaller part of the country. Distances are bigger than they look on the map: Marrakech to the Erg Chebbi dunes is a full day’s drive each way, so the number of days decides which places make sense.
Morocco in 3 Days
Three days is enough for Marrakech and one short excursion, or for a fast desert trip. If the Sahara is the priority, our 3 Days Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga crosses the High Atlas, stops at Ait Ben Haddou and the gorges, and spends a night in a desert camp. From Fes, the 3 Days Fes to Merzouga Desert Tour does the same from the north.
Morocco in 5 Days
Five days lets you combine the desert with a second city. The 5 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fes is the classic choice: Marrakech, the High Atlas, Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades and Todra gorges, a night at Erg Chebbi and the drive north to Fes.
Morocco in 7 Days
One week is the minimum we recommend for a first trip that covers the highlights. A 7 Days Morocco Tour from Casablanca or a 7 Days Morocco Tour from Marrakech brings together the imperial cities, the Atlas and the Sahara, with one night in the desert and comfortable driving days.
Morocco in 10 Days
Ten days is the sweet spot for most of our guests. You have time for Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara, the gorges and Marrakech, with free afternoons instead of long drives every day. See our 10 Days Morocco Tour from Casablanca and 10 Days Morocco Tour from Marrakech.
Morocco in 14 Days
Two weeks lets you see almost the whole country at an easy pace, adding the Atlantic coast at Essaouira, extra nights in the desert or the mountains, and time to simply enjoy the riads. Our 14 Days Tour from Casablanca is a good example.
How to Choose the Right Length
- First trip, cities and desert: 7 to 10 days.
- Short break or add-on from Spain or Europe: 3 to 5 days, focused on one region.
- Families and slower travellers: add one or two days to any route to avoid long drives.
- Photographers and repeat visitors: 12 to 14 days, with extra nights in the desert and the Atlas.
Our Advice
Do not try to fit the whole country into a few days. Choose fewer places and give each one time, and plan at least one night in the Sahara if you can. Every one of our private Morocco tours can be shortened or extended day by day, and you can browse complete itineraries in our Morocco tour packages.
