Morocco Tours from Spain: Private Trips from Tangier

By , updated

Cap Spartel near Tangier, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean

Spain and Morocco are only 14 kilometres apart at the Strait of Gibraltar, which makes Morocco one of the easiest add-ons to a trip to southern Spain. Most of our guests who come from Spain cross to Tangier, meet their private guide at the port or the airport, and continue by road to Chefchaouen, Fes and the Sahara. This guide explains how Morocco tours from Spain work and which route fits the days you have.

How to Get from Spain to Morocco

There are two easy ways to cross:

  • By ferry. Fast ferries run from Tarifa to Tangier Ville port, in the city centre, and from Algeciras to Tanger Med, about an hour east of Tangier. The crossing takes roughly an hour from Tarifa, and you need your passport at the border.
  • By air. Direct flights connect Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Málaga with Tangier, Fes and Marrakech, and are often the best choice if you want to start further south.

Whichever you choose, we meet you on arrival and handle every transfer from there. For ferry times, border tips and travelling with a car, read our full guide to traveling to Morocco from Spain.

Short Morocco Tours from Spain

If you only have a few days, a short private trip from Tangier works best. A typical three-day route covers Tangier and Cap Spartel on day one, the blue city of Chefchaouen on day two and the medina of Fes on day three, with a transfer back to Tangier or a flight home from Fes. Because every trip is private, we can shorten or extend this to match your ferry or flight times.

Longer Spain and Morocco Tours

With a week or more, you can add the Sahara. These are our most popular private tours starting from Tangier:

Why Book a Private Tour from Spain

Crossing from Spain is easy, but travelling inside Morocco on your own takes time to organise. On a private tour your guide meets you at the port, carries your luggage, handles the driving and the hotels, and adapts each day to you. There is no group to wait for and no fixed departure date. It is also the simplest way to see the north and the Sahara in one trip, which is hard to do by public transport in less than a week.

Best Time for Morocco Tours from Spain

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are ideal, with warm days in the cities and comfortable nights in the desert. Summer is popular with guests already in Andalusia, but the Sahara is very hot, so we plan early starts and shorter desert stays. Winter is mild on the coast and in the north, with cold nights in the desert.
